The Hero Combat Power displayed during Monster Hunting is based on your level of Research in trees that are about Hunting, related Lord skills and existing hunting Buffs. As such, if you have Researched into those areas or have hunting related active buffs, your Hero's Combat Power will appear greater than they actually are since they are technically buffed against Monsters due to your Research.
