You can return to your Castle and Kingdom after taking over a Golden Moon Sanctuary, however, if you use your buff items and Ancient magic after entering Golden Moon Valley, they will not have any effect. In order to make use of Ancient Magic and your buff items, you have to make sure you activate them all before you apply for entry into Golden Moon Valley.
